Eye Tests & Eye Examinations For Central London
Unia Opticians is based in Victoria, SW1, and is close to St James’s, Pimlico, Victoria and Westminster. At Unia, a thorough eye test will be carried out by our experienced optometrists. A careful evaluation of any history & symptoms will initially be taken together with an accurate assessment of the patients’ needs & requirements.
The eye examination includes a full ocular health check with tests that establish the presence of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. Systemic diseases such as diabetes can also be detected along with high blood pressure. Our eye testing room is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology, including optical coherence tomography (OCT). This is an in depth imaging method which works in a similar way to ultrasound, but using light waves instead of sound. It can aid the early detection of diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.
An assessment of the patient’s prescription is made & their visual requirements are fully discussed. The fee for the full examination is £75.00 with OCT, or £35.00 without.
Dry eye is now a common place occurrence, with the increased use of VDUs at work, environmental & other factors. Dry eye affects the front surface of the eye leading to discomfort & visual problems. At Unia, we offer a range of products to manage dry eye conditions.
Good clear vision is essential for normal development of the eye. This normally takes place up to the age of 7 years. Poor vision in children can affect learning & progress. At Unia we recommend regular eye examinations for children. Children under 16 are entitled to a free NHS eye exam. Students under 19 & in full time education are also entitled to this exemption. If spectacles are required, an NHS voucher will help towards the cost of the spectacle lenses.
