INSERTION & REMOVAL OF SOFT LENSES

Insertion

  • Always wash your hands thoroughly using anti-bacterial soap and ensure they are completely dry using a lint free cloth before handling your lenses.
  • Place the lens on the tip of the index finger of your right hand and ensure that the lens is not inside out.
  • Hold the top lid open using your left hand, making sure that your fingers are placed along the lash line thereby helping to hold the eye wide open.
  • Using the middle finger of your right hand, pull the lower lid down and move the lens towards the eye.
  • Gently place the lens on to the cornea and look down.
  • Once the lens is safely in the eye, gently release the lids.
  • Repeat the process for the other eye.
  • If you are left handed, simply swap hands for the process.

Removal

  • Always wash your hands thoroughly using anti-bacterial soap and ensure they are completely dry using a lint free cloth before handling your lenses.
  • Use your left hand to hold open the top lid.
  • Lower the bottom lid using the middle finger of your right hand.
  • Place the index finger of your right hand on to the centre of the lens whilst at the same time looking up. This will allow the lens to move down.
  • Now, keeping your thumb and index finger apart by a distance of approximately the width of your eye, bring them together and gently pinch the lens off the surface of the eye.
  • Repeat the process for the other eye.
  • If you are left handed, simply swap hands for the process.
